Load-driven interactions between energy efficiency and demand response on regional grid scales

چکیده
Energy efficiency (EE) has long been recognized as a source of value to the electricity grid. Especially with increasing penetration variable renewable generation, demand response (DR) can also provide system and support evolving needs Yet there little study date interactions between EE DR that may complicate their grid impacts. In this we perform bottom-up modelling interactive effects in buildings for three representative regions United States Leveraging new simulation tools enable detailed building stock, synthesize system-level profiles several scenarios representing different portfolios measures. each scenario, couple underlying models database DR-enabling technologies estimate building-level capabilities compute supply curve DR. We assess resulting based on an existing conceptual framework. The results show complex relationship DR, whose size direction vary widely depending system, type framework level being considered. Most often, overall effect is competition but significant complementarity occur, especially when portfolio includes controls Our suggest programs developed without considering erode benefits both resources, whereas more integrated approach yield increased benefits.

Stochastic Congestion Alleviation with a Trade-off between Demand Response Resources and Load Shedding
Under the smart grid environments, Demand Response Resources (DRRs) as power system resources can effectively participate in and improve performance of electric systems. Congestion management is one of the technical challenges in which DRRs can play a significant role. Previously, congestion management is applied without considering the power system uncertainties. Therefore, a stochastic conges...
متن کاملFuel Consumption Reduction and Energy Management in Stand-Alone Hybrid Microgrid under Load Uncertainty and Demand Response by Linear Programming
A stand-alone microgrid usually contains a set of distributed generation resources, energy storage system and loads that can be used to supply electricity of remote areas. These areas are small in terms of population and industry. Connection of these areas to the national distribution network due to the high costs of constructing transmission lines is not economical. Optimal utilization and eco...
متن کاملMulti Objective Scheduling of Utility-scale Energy Storages and Demand Response Programs Portfolio for Grid Integration of Wind Power
Increasing the penetration of variable wind generation in power systems has created some new challenges in the power system operation. In such a situation, the inclusion of flexible resources which have the potential of facilitating wind power integration is necessary. Demand response (DR) programs and emerging utility-scale energy storages (ESs) are known as two powerful flexible tools that ca...

Energy Aware Grid: Global Workload Placement based on Energy Efficiency
The concept of Grid, based on coordinated resource sharing and problem solving in dynamic, multiinstitutional virtual organizations, is emerging as the new paradigm in distributed and pervasive computing for scientific as well as commercial applications. We assume a global network of data centers housing an aggregation of computing, networking and storage hardware. However, increased compaction...
